Chinatown has been and remains a neighborhood of strong ethnic history. Over time this neighborhood has experienced a heavy flux of Chinese immigration thus having a large impact on the surrounding neighborhoods of Little Italy, Tribeca, Soho and Lower East Side. Because of its cultural diversity and over growth of unique boutiques Chinatown and surrounding areas have become high demand housing to the social elite and nouveau-riche. Young and old flock here to taste culinary delights from all over the globe. From cheap duds to decadent one-of-a-kinds this downtown neighborhood has become a shopping Mecca.
Most of Chinatown is composed of typical New York City walk-up buildings, and yet it has a vibe different than anywhere else in the city. On many streets, all the signs are written in Chinese, and it is this authenticity, as well as the delicious, authentic food, that brings visitors to the area.

- Built in the Eighteen or Nineteen century. Originally built as luxurious one family homes, these houses usually feature fireplaces, moldings and other typical prewar characteristics. Offers the luxury of a private home in the city and often were converted to multiple apartment buildings.
