Hampton Bays

The hamlet of Hampton Bays is the only "Hampton" that provides
unobstructed access to all surrounding waterways. By boating through
the Shinnecock Canal from Shinnecock and Tiana Bays, one can reach the
Atlantic Ocean through the Shinnecock Inlet or North to the Great
Peconic. A great boaters' town, Hamptons Bays is known for its
fishing facilities and the freshest seafood markets - with delicious
and robust lobsters in season. A wonderful area filled with pristine
beaches and vacation homes, Hampton Bays has many picnic areas dotting
the landscape with plenty of hiking, horseback riding and bicycling
through delightful trails. Previously known as "Good Ground," Hampton
Bays got its name in 1922 when significant tourism from New York City
expanded into the eleven small hamlets that make up Hampton Bays.
