Steve Landfield boasts an accomplished background and years of experience in commercial leasing and sales, real estate education, and environmental safety training. In the brokerage arena, Steve has closed many commercial transactions with several Manhattan real estate firms, including his own where he was partner for two years. Steve has come to Nest Seekers International to work in these areas and to manage a commercial team of agents specializing in the leasing of retail, office, and other commercial spaces in Manhattan, as well as investment building sales and purchases.
Fueling his success in serving clients in all areas of the business is his reputation in the world of real estate education. Steve is a Certified New York Real Estate Instructor, teaching at the New York Real Estate Institute, New York’s largest real estate training school, where his popular “Introduction to Commercial Real Estate” continuing education class led to his development of a three-day “Certificate in Commercial Real Estate” class, which is one of the school’s showcase courses. He quite possibly teaches more commercial brokers and salespersons than anyone else in New York City.
Steve also teaches broker licensing classes in Property Management and Construction & Development, as well as his own class in commercial building investment, where he teaches brokers how to analyze commercial building finances and how to select investment buildings for clients.
Steve developed and teaches an “Introduction to Environmental Health Hazards", which is a unique real estate class held at The New York Real Estate Institute, covering lead, mold, asbestos, and radon hazards for real estate professionals and how to deal with them in sales and rental transactions. This course is approved for continuing education credit by the NY Department of State.
Steve's commitment to the industry is expressed through his membership on several commercial real estate committees of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY); his additional commitment to environmental sustainability in real estate is evidenced by his credential as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Associate.
He was appointed in 1999 by the NJ State Legislature to the New Jersey Human Relations Council, which deals with issues of bias and prejudice, and where he served for two years as Vice-Chair. He remains an Advisory Board Member to the Council and he is the Chair of the Council’s Housing Committee, which examines issues of Fair Housing, discrimination & bias and Section 8 Housing issues in New Jersey. He also chairs the Council's Public Relations Committee.
Supplementing his real estate industry knowledge, is Steve’s background as an environmental hazard safety instructor. He is a Certified Lead-Based Paint Risk Assessor, allowing him to perform residential lead-based paint risk assessment or lead hazard screening services, which includes performing on-site inspections, taking samples, determining the severity of lead hazards, and developing options for eliminating those hazards. He is an expert in lead paint health hazards and safe removal procedures. He is also an EPA-Certified Renovator and a Principal Instructor in EPA/HUD Lead-Paint Safe Work Practices for Renovation, Repair and Painting with The National Center for Healthy Housing. Steve is a certified Mold Remediation Worker and he has completed OSHA 30 hour general industry safety training. Steve has traveled the country, giving EPA Lead Certified Renovator training classes.
He also teaches industry safety seminars in NYC Lead Safe Work Practices and in Mold and Asbestos Awareness, Carbon Monoxide Compliance, "OSHA/EPA Safety and Reporting Requirements for Building Superintendents" and "How To Manage Renovation Projects" for New York City building superintendents, at Local 32BJ Thomas Shortman Training Fund of the Service Employees International Union. If you want to become a certified union building superintendent in New York City, chances are you’ll be taking industry safety classes with him.
Steve furthered his expertise in building operations and management by receiving a Certificate in Advanced Property Management Techniques from The City of New York, Department of Housing Preservation and Development. He is a New York Accredited Realty Manager by the New York Association of Realty Managers (NYARM) where he has lectured to property managers on Fair Housing.
Outside of real estate, Steve is a commercial print model and actor who he has appeared in national newspaper and magazine ads as well as on several TV shows, on the Discovery Channel, The History Channel and MTV.
Among his past jobs, Steve worked as an aide in the White House, in Washington, DC, during a prior presidential administration.
Steve has a BA in Urban Affairs from George Washington University and JD/MBA from the Washington University, in St. Louis, MO.
He recently became a Certified Real Estate Adviser from the Graduate School of Business at Touro College.
