Description

Located in one of Portugal's most cosmopolitan areas, Estoril, the Hotel Biarritz is a charming 4-star hotel project just a short distance from Lisbon. Situated on the seafront, it provides guests with the gentle sound of waves and singing seagulls.

The project has already been approved and licensed for refurbishment and expansion of an additional floor, with the Portuguese Tourism Board giving their favorable opinion.

This new hotel unit aims to intertwine luxury, well-being, quality, and refinement to preserve this beautiful work of art over time. The 29 rooms will be transformed into 15 premium suites with a high-quality and prestigious bar/restaurant, wellness area, and private SPA, all constructed on a plot of land of 706 m2, covering an area of 1.078 m2.

The villa is just a few meters from the beach and is intended to be preserved and rehabilitated so it can continue to be an integral part of the unique landscape of Avenida Marginal da Costa do Estoril.

The History:

Joaquim Norte Júnior, an architect from the early twentieth century, designed this house, which characterizes the modus vivendi of the time when Estoril became a bathing resort for the court and the upper bourgeoisie.

The three-story summer house, which was practically rebuilt in its entirety, features high staircases, open entrance halls, and spacious rooms. Inside, the tiles, moldings, and painted doorposts imitating wood and marble reflect an era and the opulence and refinement of its owners.

The outdoor galleries functioned as extensions of the leisure rooms, which decorated the elevation of the villa and where one could see and be seen on social occasions. The surrounding garden, now smaller due to the Marginal Road, features a worked wall, a fountain, and a bench covered with the same azulejos that adorn the interior spaces, paneling, and staircase handrails.

The interior layout of the spaces reflects the social organization of the time when employees neither circulated nor remained within the circuits of high society. The main access and social spaces face the main streets, while the access and service areas are located at the back.

About Estoril:

Estoril is known as one of the trendiest areas in Portugal, having been the refuge for many European monarchs who saw all its splendor and magnificence mirrored in its magnificent palaces, stately homes, and elegant and sophisticated atmosphere.

Nowadays, Estoril is famous for its magnificent beaches of golden dunes and as the home of one of the largest casinos in Europe, the Estoril Casino. It is a gambling venue and one of the largest leisure and entertainment venues in the region and country, with spaces dedicated to culture and events, conferences, and congresses, as well as a vast garden.

The Location:

Estoril's location is ideal in terms of transport links. It is close to Lisbon and has excellent access to the city by road or rail. It is also near the charming towns of Cascais and Sintra, which delight millions of tourists each year because of their picturesque features and magnificent monuments.

Moreover, its proximity to the international airport, just 20km away, is a distinguishing factor for Estoril. There is also an air connection from the Tires Aerodrome to the Lisbon International Airport.

Estoril, with its south-facing beaches, is an excellent destination for those who seek calm waters, sandy beaches, and mild temperatures. The area boasts around 260 days of sunshine every year, making it an ideal spot for sun-seekers.

Nature lovers will find the western beaches of the Cascais and Sintra districts within easy reach. These beaches offer a wild beauty that attracts surfers, windsurfers, bodyboarders, and other water sports enthusiasts from around the world.
