In addition to the buildings of country architecture, the island also houses the protected sacral buildings and complexes of Bishop Lodovic Beccadelli from Rome, and is known for its preserved frescoes depicting prominent figures of that era, among them the famous painter Michelangelo Buonarroti, a great friend of Bishop Beccadelli. whose letters announcing his arrival to Šipan because of the distinct landscape, architectural and natural values ​​of the island, as described by Bishop Beccadelli of Šipan in his invitation, are preserved in the State Archives in Dubrovnik.
