Built in 1901 by S.G. Taylor in New York, the "John Slade Ely House" was built as a residence for John Slade, a physician and professor in theory and practice of medicine at Yale. The 6,651 SQ FT Tudor style building is at the gateway between East Rock and Downtown on Trumbull Street. Its historical origins remain intact with the grand staircase, elaborate fireplaces, leaded glass windows, arched doorways, coffered ceilings and detailed woodwork.
