Billy Joel once used this NYC apartment as an office — and now it’s for sale

A Central Park South apartment once owned by the beloved musician Billy Joel is on the market for a relative song: $1 million.

The one-bedroom prewar unit, at 128 Central Park South, served as Joel’s office and studio when he lived in a massive 10,000-square-foot penthouse above it with his then-wife, the supermodel Christie Brinkley, on the building’s 16th floor.

At the time, the apartment served as an extension of the penthouse.

“Now, this legendary address on West 59th Street and Central Park South is ready for its next New Yorker to carry on a legacy of style, soul and innovation,” said listing broker Keith Hodges, of Nest Seekers International.

Brinkley recently wrote about her marriage to Joel in her autobiography, “Uptown Girl.” In the book, she writes about how they were madly in love, acted like teenagers, laughed a lot — and remain friends.

The couple, who share daughter Alexa Ray Joel together, were married for nine years before their 1994 divorce.

Joel sold this apartment in 2014 for $775,000.  He had sold the penthouse a year earlier for $11 million in 2013.

This listed unit has hardwood floors, and a windowed, eat-in chef’s kitchen.

There’s also a main bedroom with an ensuite bath.

The limestone building itself, which dates to 1928, is built in a classic Italianate Renaissance-Palazzo style.

Last month, Joel sold the gatehouse of his Long Island estate for $7 million, The Post reported exclusively.

Joel also re-listed part of the remaining “MiddleSea” property — the main residence, on 14 acres — for a cool $29.9 million. The news all came as Joel underwent physical therapy for normal pressure hydrocephalus, a brain disorder that impacts hearing, vision and balance.
