Nest Seekers International Markets Historical Home in East Hampton Village

Do you love historical homes? If so, this one is for sale. Christian Schenck, who lived in East Hampton for over 40 years had the home built circa 1896. It was originally located on the corner of Main Street and Newtown Lane in the Village of East Hampton. According to the East Hampton Star, the following year, the "new house" is painted. In 1898, Christian gets permission to dig a gutter in front of his residence on Newtown Lane. In 1902, Christian sells his meat market (Schenck was a butcher), which was located next to his house. In an interview with Christian's grandson, Kennell Iddings Schenck, in 1998 he indicates the house was moved in 1904. Kennell also mentions that “the house was divided into two pieces to make it easier to move.” Here is the postcard image of the house found in the 2019 East Hampton Library calendar: Newtown Lane, East Hampton, L.I.  Thank you to Gina Piastuck, Department Head, East Hampton Library, Long Island Collection for her research assistance.

“Back in the day it was common to move homes to a new location” according to Kenneth Smallwood, Licensed Real Estate Salesperson with Nest Seekers International who is exclusively marketing the home for sale. According to Mr. Smallwood, “the home has been reimagined for today's Hamptons lifestyle. Village homes are in very high demand because they offer less up-keep and are close to mass transportation, shopping and restaurants.”

The home features 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, 2 half baths, a new salt water pool/spa and pool house. The house has many Wi-Fi enable utilities including a Bosch Coffee Machine with Home Connect technology. The home is being offered for $2,595,000.
