Michele McDonald is a life long resident of New York; she was born, raised, and educated here in New York. Michele attended Long Island University at Southampton College and was a student in their Friends World Program. When Michele entered the corporate world, she worked on behalf of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy by promoting and implementing the ENERGY STAR Campaign. Upon completion of that assignment, Michele returned to Southampton College (which was then SUNY Stony Brook at the Southampton Campus) and studied Environmental Sustainability.
Giving back through volunteerism and supporting both local and national non-profit organizations (such as: American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, ALS, Ovarian Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Kids Stock the House/The Ronald McDonald House, and the Foundation Fighting Blindness) is very important to Michele and it is a big part of her life. In 2012 Michele was recognized by President Barack Obama for her dedication to giving back and her passion for philanthropy with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.
As much as Michele has kept herself busy with her involvement with a multitude of such worthy charitable organizations, she still found time to indulge in her passion for travel. She has traveled to 11 countries and 22 cities over the last two years--visiting Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, .
