Description

Impressive Tuscan Art Nouveau neo-medieval castle designed with tower and panoramic terraces, including vineyards and olive groves, for sale in the Chianti region, near Bucine, between Siena and Arezzo. On an exclusive 320 acres estate, in the very heart of Tuscany, stands the tall tower of Villa Frisoni a Lupinari, a unique example of its kind built by a famous Italian architect Gino Coppedè, who, between 1901 and 1906 did not limit himself to philologically correct architectural reworkings in neo-medieval style, but mixed styles and different eras into magnificent scenarios and features. The facades, with biforas with stone columns and capitals, surmounted by fine artfully marbled bricks and guarded by stone lion sculptures, strike immediately and recall the Palazzo Pubblico of Siena and Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. The arched loggia protrudes from the compact geometry of the building, while indoor frescoes and wall paintings are surmounted by coats of arms, mosaic stones, and painted tile flooring, clearly reminiscent of Portuguese azulejos. The painted coffered ceilings with inlaid planks and rafters along the corners are beautiful and were signed by Mariano Coppedé, Gino’s father, and Galileo Ghini. The interior of the castle is a highly atmospheric setting, where strong are the echoes of a past linked to the life of the ancient Tuscan aristocracy. The villa spreads over five floors plus three levels on the tower with two large panoramic terraces. A master entrance hallway opens into an adjoining living room and study with a superbly frescoed covered veranda. On the same floor a reception hall, dining room, a second entrance, a spacious kitchen and a guest bathroom. On the second floor four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a frescoed veranda. Off the hand-carved wooden staircase, the third floor consists of one bedroom with en-suite bathroom, three bedrooms and three separate bathrooms. On the fourth a large living room opens onto a large terrace with views over the park and the surrounding unspoiled countryside. Overall, the most spectacular viewpoint is from the tower. Each of its three levels consists of one room perfect as a reading room, a study, and a bedroom. A 4-acre park with mature trees and Mediterranean plants surrounds the villa. On the basement level laundry and ironing room, cellars and technical rooms. Separate from the villa several outbuildings and annexes. The property includes 316 acres of agricultural land consisting of approx. 19.5 hectares/ 48 acres of Chianti DOCG appellation vineyards, 19 hectares/ 47 acres of olive groves, and the remainder planted with mixed forest and woodland. With prestigious architectural features and a prime location, this superb property offers excellent potential for a private residence or a country resort with agricultural land.
