Description

43 Garfield Place--between 4th & 5th Avenues in Park Slope, Brooklyn 11215

Small 2 Story/ 2Family 4 Bedroom House--Best Used as a 1 family in Prime Center Park Slope PS 321 School District.

The year 1997: Harvey Heit was working for Peggy Aguayo and Associates at the time and was in process of selling this home to a newly married couple.

There were rumors that 43 Garfield may have also been the "mysterious 3rd house" that Al Capone lived in and grew up in as a child. The area in the 1920s back when the Capone family lived there was referred to as "South Brooklyn" and it was a pretty rough & tough neighborhood back then--no resemblance at all to the very upscale and perhaps somewhat "aristocratic" neighborhood that Park Slope eventually evolved into.

When we did the engineers inspection of the house at the time we did not find secret vaults or any potential down payment money for the newly married couple from Al Capone's legacy stashed in the walls, floors, basement or back yard.

The two known well known Capone family residences are on Garfield Place between 4th and 5th Avenues are:

(click on links below)

1) 38 Garfield Place

2) 21 Garfield Place *

(During the summer German and Japanese Tour Buses are often seen stopping in front of both houses for picture taking sessions.)

* In 2006 Peggy Aguayo, Licensed Real Estate Broker--resold 21 Garfield Place--for just over $1.0 million.

The same married couple--still live now with their 2 growing children very happily in their 43 Garfield Place home. And we believe that they eventually will find Al Capone's buried treasure--perhaps when they go to sell or refinance 43 Garfield to pay for their children's college educations, weddings or a 2nd vacation home etc. etc.

The appraisal will show that their house has appreciated 4 to 6 times it's original value from the time that their engineer in 1997 "failed miserably" to find Capone's secret stash. And the mystery of buried treasure within the walls of Park Slope Real Estate will be forever solved.

Don't forget to ask Harvey what happened at closing of this deal when the seller of the house made the young married couple "an offer they had to refuse".
