John Lizars became active in Hamptons real estate sales and rentals in 2003 after an extensive career as a senior marketing executive in the publishing and cruise ship industries, He and his family have lived in East Hampton since 1990.
Although his career has been in marketing, his long time avocation has been real estate, and more specifically, houses.His first job after graduate school was a real estate appraiser and a shopping center manager in Chicago. Since then, he has purchased, built, renovated and/or substantially improved six houses, four of which were for investments. John has a very pratical sense of the facitilies and style that contribute to success in the Hamptons rental market.
John has been involved in a full spectrum of sales from modest ranches to stunning moderns and rentals of every size and duration. Equally important, he simply enjoys understanding clients' and customers' needs and matching needs with properties. His career in New York City was in service industries, which provided him with great training for building supportive and informative relationships in real estate. John possesses a great capacity for details. He does his homework and provides data that is always informative and focused.
John's marketing career in NYC ranged from account service positions in major advertising agencies (Ogilvy & Mather, D'Arcy, Macmanus & Masius,Benton & Bowles) to senior marketing positions in the cruise ship industry (Cunard Line, Holland America Cruises) and in publishing (The Economist magazine and The Financial Times).
John received an A.B. in History from Harvard College and MBA in marketing from the Harvard Business School. He was a member of the Southampton College Business Department Advisory Board. He has two daughters (ages 28 and 30) and enjoys music,art, movies and conversation.
