A part of Yahya's appeal is his ability to connect with a cross-section of personalities, cultures and environments. As a United States Navy veteran, Yahya was introduced to the global community at a young age which influenced a lot of his worldview. While on active duty, he began investing in single-family houses throughout Virginia Beach and Norfolk, Virginia. Always seeking professional growth, Yahya secured an internship with AdvantisGVA's Retail Brokerage Services Division. He was tasked with site analysis, demographic studies and supervising tenant buildouts for national tenant representation accounts where Starbucks was a key client.
After his time in the US Navy, Yahya transitioned into commercial real estate by joining Mid-Atlantic Commercial (MAC), a family-owned practice, where he focused primarily on land brokerage and development. While at MAC, Yahya contributed to the commercial division's delivery of 800 residential building lots per year by managing entitlement processing from site acquision through development plan approval. His first venture into real estate development was in partnership with the firm's Principals. Together the team co-developed 62 acres into a mixed-use community with 143 lots and 3 out parcels for 68,000 square feet of commercial space. He continued to broker other large land deals while at MAC. In the fall of 2007, Yahya founded Aribra, LLC, a real estate development consultancy that advises owners on the development, repositioning, and disposition of multi-family assets.
Yahya relocated to New York City in 2013 to complete studies at New York University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Behavior and Change. He has begun graduate-level studies at Columbia University where he seeks to obtain a Masters of Science degree in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution. Yahya is an avid traveler and has visited 20 countries on four continents. He is most passionate about social and economic justice causes.
