Windsor Terrace is a small, well established, family friendly neighborhood, located between Prospect Park and Greenwood Cemetery. Windsor Terrace, once a sleepy, blue-collar neighborhood, has experienced a kind of revival over the years, but has still managed to maintain many of its humble qualities from years past. Part of those qualities is the “neighborliness” displayed by its residents. A grassroots group called Friends of Greenwood Playground, has worked for nearly a decade to improve a triangular public space adjacent to the Prospect Expressway, turning it into a social hub for parents and children in the process.
Although Windsor Terrace has a small town feel, there are many things to explore in the area in terms of eateries and entertainment. Windsor Place Antiques offers a variety of vintage furnishings, prints and more. Brooklyn Commune, a quaint corner cafe at serves up breakfast with menu options charmingly written out on a large chalkboard wall. Batata Pita Bar is a lunchtime favorite, and Della, owned by a former James Beard Award editor, is offers an Italian inspired menu. Residents can also stop in for drinks at another neighborhood staple, The Double Windsor. If you’re looking for family-friendly activities, Prospect Park and the Kensington Stables are a stone’s toss away.
If you’re thinking of moving to Windsor Terrace, the neighborhood features limestone and brick row houses at prices more reasonable than nearby Park Slope, and also offers new condominiums ranging from studios, ones and two bedrooms. Many of the porch-fronted, primarily single- and multi-family row houses make the area a top-choice destination for living, renting and buying in Windsor Terrace. The average residential rent is around $2350 and the average price for a condo is just under $650,000.
The local G and F trains provide transportation service for the neighborhood and are both less than a 45-minute ride to Midtown Manhattan.
