The city of Hollywood, Florida, has roots dating back to 1920, when developer Joseph W.Young, Jr. sealed the deal that got him one square mile of land. This lead to city plans focusing on vistas and parks, wide boulevards and a fusion of architectural styles, all of which can still be seen in buildings throughout Hollywood today.

Every year, the Hollywood Historical Society holds a Founder's Day Celebration. Officially, Founder's day fall son August 4th (the birthday of Joseph W.
