Private Playgrounds In Residential Developments Gain Popularity


Children’s playrooms have become a standard amenity in buildings that are considered family-friendly. Now, many new developers are upping the ante by offering a new amenity to draw in buyers with kids.

"A new trend we are seeing now is outdoor playgrounds for children, a very appealing concept for any buyer because of the added value to their purchase," says Shlomi Reuveni of Brown Harris Stevens SELECT. "At the end of the day, on a practical level, it’s an incredible lifestyle, an extension of your indoor living."

Years ago, you could find private outdoor playgrounds here and there. But it is now the hot trend for new developments because it offers caregivers a safe and convenient place for kids to play without the hassle and crowds of public playgrounds. That’s a convenience buyers are willing to pay for.

At the Laureate on the Upper West Side, for example, their outdoor play space has been a great marketing tool.

"We bring the buyers down to our amenity level," Reuveni says. "This, at the end of the day, possibly seals the deal.
