R.I.P David J. Saland


Our Nest Seekers agent, David J. Saland, passed away this weekend from a heart attack. Our deepest condolences to his family.

David has been a Licensed Real Estate broker for more than 40 years. His unparalleled  and seasoned expertise in all aspects of the North Forth and Hamptons market places made him invaluable when buying and selling real estate.

A student of Mattituck High School, David possessed not only a professional but a personal  knowledge of the marketplace he held so dear. He sold over one billion dollars worth of property throughout both forks, and served as a land developer and property manager on 40 projects including: built owned and operated Directors Seat Restaurant, Laurel Lake Vineyard, Founder and Developer of Laurel links Country Club.

He held a B.S. degree in Economics from Wagner college.

David was an avid swimmer and served as the Captain of the Southampton Village Ocean lifeguards for 15 years. He was a founding member of the North Fork Chess Club winning its Chess Championship numerous times.

David was also active in his community. He was on the Board of Directors in charge of promotion for the Eastern Suffolk  Board of Realtors, Director of the year for the Riverhead Chamber of Commerce, a Board of Director of the North Fork Promotional Council and President of the Aquebogue, Jamesport and Laurel Chamber of Commerce.
