Greenport Today

If you haven't been to Greenport, NY it's a must see destination! The heart of the downtown Greenport is a world of it's own which reflects a artistic old fishing village. Monday nights all summer long there is dancing in the park behind a beautiful glass carousel, people come with a blanket and picnic basket. The area is surrounded in cute shops, art gallery's, incredible food, tall ships, vintage shops, and beaches with grills. The town is filled with artists of all different back grounds and it's shows.

The restaurants you must try is The Olive Branch if you are looking for high end fresh Turkish food everything is made daily. Kate's Cheese Shop is nice if your feeling a cheese board, fondue, and a glass of wine. If you want to be on the water there's always Claudio's or  Port. If you want to hide out there' s always Brix and Rye a down stairs hidden bar. For fresh Oysters in a trendy setting try Little Creek Oysters.

There are daily charter boats two I recommend are the Peconic Starr and The Layla. The Peconic Starr is great for fishing day trips. Where the Layla is good for a relaxing sailing trip with a glass of wine on the open sea. The whole town is surrounded in Marina's. The local vineyard Kontokosta is also on the water, and personally I feel is one of the most beautiful vineyards on the North fork.

The houses in Greenport are very beautiful,  a lot of them are tall colonial house with wrap around porches. Greenport harbor was a fishing village so you will see a lot of the old  house's still have beautiful widow's walk. These houses complete the uniqueness of the town.
