Tennis ace Serena Williams, arguably the best female player to ever step foot on a court, paid $6.7 million for a brand-spanking-new Spanish-inspired contemporary in the guard-gated Summit enclave high in the mansion-dotted mountains between Beverly Hills and Studio City. The approximately 6,000-square-foot residence, set on an unconventionally triangular parcel of almost a quarter acre, with over-the-rooftops vistas that sweep over a vast swathe of the San Fernando Valley, has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms across three floors.

Formal living and dining rooms, the former with a fireplace, are joined on the main floor by a bay-windowed study, a family room with a fireplace and a spacious kitchen with a double-wide island and a mix of black- and white-marble countertops on dove gray cabinetry. A lower-level entertaining space offers a black-marble-topped wet bar backed by a glass-fronted walk-in wine cellar, while the grassy backyard includes a built-in grilling station and loggia that overlooks a plunge-sized swimming pool set into the terraced and planted hillside behind the house.

Some of Williams’ new neighbors in The Summit, once home to Britney Spears, Ed McMahon and Hillary Duff, include Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson and pop star Gwen Stefani, whose lavish contemporary compound, once owned by Jennifer Lopez, is up for grabs at a mouth-drying $35 million.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion, engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, has long maintained an apartment in Paris — she speaks near fluent French — and her Stateside holdings include a 2.4-acre vacant estate parcel in the prestigious Bear’s Club enclave in Jupiter, Fla., she snagged in early 2014 for more than $4.1 million; a 5,800-square-foot residence in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., she bought in May 2015 for $2.5 million; and a 2.7-acre spread in the Stone Canyon area of L.A.’s Bel-Air she bought in 2006 for a skosh more than $6.6 million and recently lobbed on the market at a tetch less than $12 million.
