The waterfront home in Hewlett Bay Park, built by Snapple co-founder Hyman Golden and his wife, Mitzi, is coming on the market for $15 million
In the affluent Long Island village of Hewlett Bay Park, N.Y., the longtime home of Hyman Golden is known as the Snapple House.
Hyman co-founded the company that became the famed beverage brand Snapple in the 1970s. He and his wife, Mitzi Golden, built the waterfront home in the 1990s, shortly after Snapple was sold to the Quaker Oats Company for $1.7 billion.
Now, after the deaths of the Goldens, the South Shore property is going on the market for the first time with an asking price of $15 million, according to listing agent Shawn Elliott with Nest Seekers International.
With five bedrooms, the roughly 11,000-square-foot home sits on approximately 2 acres with a dock, according to the Goldens’ son, Bruce Golden.
Hyman grew up in Queens, and he and Mitzi raised their children in Brooklyn and then the nearby Long Island village of Lawrence, said Bruce. Bruce and his siblings were adults when his parents bought the Hewlett Bay Park property, which became their primary home.
In Nassau County about 25 miles from Manhattan, the Snapple House will be the most expensive home for sale in the Hewlett area, according to Elliott. If it sells at or near the asking price, it will break the home-sale record there, which is currently $9.5 million.
Elliott shares the listing with Zach Elliott and Richard Golden, a member of the Golden family.
