On and off the market for the better part of a decade, most recently for $34 million, this Manhattan townhouse and its accompanying art gallery just popped up for sale once again. But you’ll still need a considerable amount of cash to pick up the keys to the delectable five-story spread, which is now listed for a more palatable $24 million.

Nestled a few short blocks from Central Park, the premises were originally built way back in 1899 as a home and workshop for textile designers D.D. and Leslie Tillett. Boutique real estate investor Kate Shin purchased the place for $8.5 million in January 2008, and then spent the next four years extensively renovating the former carriage house into a residence resting atop a gallery in collaboration with Japanese architect Toshiko Mori.

Known as the “Waterfall Mansion”—after the 23-foot-tall indoor water feature that cascades into a ground-floor reflecting pool surrounded by sculpture—the towering structure is distinguished by a restored brick façade adorned with stone details. Visitors enter via blackened stainless-steel entry gates sporting a leaf motif, which lead to a gallery that’s not only hosted exhibits by contemporary and international artists, but also industry events for the likes of Rolls-Royce, Gucci and Fendi.

As for the living quarters above, six bedrooms and seven baths are sprawled across almost 11,000 square feet boasting quarter-sawn maple floors, paired with marble, black slate, limestone and glass tile finishes. Notable amenities include an elevator to all levels, professional lighting, a central 50-foot light well, and more than 40 windows and skylights custom-made in Germany.

Other highlights include a spacious living room, dining room overlooking the waterfall via floor-to-ceiling walls of glass, and kitchen outfitted with Asko and Thermador appliances. A wine cooler-equipped wet bar, walk-in pantry and powder room are tucked right around the corner; and elsewhere is a full-floor master retreat spotlighted by a separate den, bath equipped with dual vanities and a soaking tub, and access to a terrace warmed by a fire-pit.

Rounding it all out: a basement holding a 1,000-bottle wine cellar, spa and cedar-lined sauna, gym and massage room, plus a landscaped roof deck offering picturesque skyline views.

The listing is held by Bianca D’Alessio and J.B. Andreassi of Nest Seekers International.
